Bunkering Opportunity

Tongue Anchorage is located at the heart of the shipping routes to and from the Thames, Medway and close to the Sunk VTS area, also just south of approaches to Harwich and Felixstowe. The busy Dover Strait Traffic Separation Scheme is around 15 miles from the Anchorage. Crew and stores transfers can be arranged through ESL (Estuary Services Ltd pilot service) from Tongue into Ramsgate Harbour.

This strategic location allows a 24/7 bunkering service to customer vessels both south and northbound with very limited deviation time. Thanks to the safe and deep waters (21.5M CD), clients do not require an agent or a pilot to enter tongue anchorage, only to complete a set of Calling Instructions 24 hours before arrival.

Portland Bunkers UK LTD has an exclusive agreement with JEMS, utilising vessels from Thanet Fisherman’s Association, that will provide management of the counter pollution response service, fulfilling the Port of London’s oil spill response requirements.
